Meteku Becomes Benaiah

Our friend Kari met our Meteku last summer in the transition home and took LOTS of photos and video! It was such a gift to receive those from her -especially since we had such a long wait before we could bring him home!

This weekend, Kari and Meteku were reunited. He has grown so much! He looked like a sickly little doll in last year's photo! Kari looks great in both!

When the mail carrier brought all of our held mail after our trip, in the pile was our DECREE OF ADOPTION from the state of North Carolina! Our son's name has been officially changed from "Meteku Wiliam Schmidt" to "Benaiah Meteku Schmidt," and our adoption has now been formally recognized in the United States.

Now, we need to pursue his birth certificate, Social Security number, and a Certificate of Citizenship. Most people thought that this was over when we came home with our baby! Ha!

Congrats! How exciting. So nice getting through all those last steps!

We actually got the CoC in a month so hope it is that fast in NC as well. One good thing about the move is how much easier readoption is in CA. We have our passport on Friday and then SSN.

Fun seeing how much he has grown and changed in a year!

CONGRATS!! What an amazing difference in little Benaiah! He is just too cute!
We also just got our final decree for Myliah and are now beginning the COC paperwork. I am totally confused about what we need.

Hi! I found your blog because I'm doing research about breastfeeding adopted children. We'll be bringing home our daughter from Korea in December. She'll be 8 months old at the time. I'm just about to start the protocol (which I noticed you used). We only have 3 months but I hope it's ok because I nursed two bio children. I'd love to hear how your son did with nursing and what you thought about the protocol. I have so many questions! :-) What pill to use, what pump to buy/rent, etc... If you would mind giving me any advice I'd really appreciate it. I think you can just reply to my post. If you don't have the time I totally understand.
